Balkanik Festival 2013
Balkanik Festival 2013 brings together the old masters of lute and the new architects of sound. In fact, it is the first Festival in the world dedicated to Balkan music and culture.
This year, the great Romanian artist Maria Tănase will be celebrated in an incendiary atmosphere created by Alexander Balanescu Quartet, a professional composer and one of the most visionary violinist. The recital will be accompanied by visual arts signed by Klaus Obermaier, media-artist and choreographer.
Other artists present at this extraordinary Festival will be: Ciocârlia Fanfare (a famous brass band from Zece Prăjini village, Iaşi county, known as as the world’s fastest music group), Mitsoura (Hungarian-Gypsy music group that promotes a “progressive electro world beat project”), Taraf de Haidouks (Taraful Haiducilor din Clejani, a representative band of gypsy music), Kal Band (a renowned romani music band from Serbia) and Kottarashky and The Rain Dogs (an ethno-electronic music band from Bulgaria).
The Festival is powered by Metropolis Film and supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute, Arcub and 5th District Municipality. For a “sparkling” experience, become a spectator at Balkanik Festival 2013 from 13th until 15th of September at Uranus Garden in Bucharest, 144 Uranus Street.
